Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Fruitspan collects and how it is used, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). What we collect

When you create an account: your name, email address, and optionally your company and country. When you use the site: your login times and basic technical information needed to keep the site secure, such as your IP address during failed login attempts. For each device you sign in on, we keep a short record (the type of browser and device, its IP address, and when it was last used) to apply the limit of 2 devices per account and to protect your account; these records are deleted after 90 days. If you're in a team, the team owner can see your name, email address and when you last used Fruitspan. When you subscribe: PayFast sends us confirmation of each payment (amount, date, status and a reference used to manage the subscription). We never receive or store your card details. If you switch on notifications on a device, we store the delivery address your browser's push service gives for that device; switching notifications off deletes it.

Why we use it

To run your account and give you access, to take and record subscription payments, to send you account emails such as confirmations, password resets and receipts, to prevent misuse including repeated free trials, and to meet legal and tax record-keeping duties. We don't sell your information and don't use it for advertising.

Free-trial records

To make sure each inbox receives one free trial, we keep a one-way fingerprint (a hash) of email addresses that have had a trial. It can't be turned back into the address, and it is kept even if you delete your account.

Who we share it with

PayFast (payment processing), Hostinger (web hosting and email), the push service of your browser's maker (such as Apple, Google or Mozilla) if you switch on notifications, and our professional advisors where needed. Each only receives what's required for their part. Some of these providers may store information outside South Africa, under safeguards that POPIA requires.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie that keeps you logged in and protects forms from misuse. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

Account details are kept while your account is open. Payment records are kept for the period tax law requires (currently five years). If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal details except the payment records we must keep and the free-trial fingerprint described above.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or object to how it's used, by emailing support@fruitspan.com. You can update most details yourself on your account page. If you're unhappy with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
